Aimee’s Journey to Employee Engagement
For Aimee Popovski, a career in long-term care is rooted in a deep dedication to service. From her early days as a Dietary Aide to her current role as an Employee Engagement Associate, Aimee’s journey highlights her passion for creating meaningful change.
Aimee began her career with Healthcare Services Group in 2016, where she developed an appreciation for the long-term care community. Reflecting on her start, she shared, “I began as a Dietary Aide, coming from the restaurant industry. I quickly realized the positive influence my team had by simply preparing meals. Witnessing residents happy because of what we were doing filled my cup.” Her desire to advance in her career grew as she transitioned into an Environmental Services Account Manager.

Each stage in Aimee’s career was fueled by a desire to make a broader impact. When she became a Manager-in-Training and participated in HCSG’s professional development program, her leadership skills flourished. Aimee explained, “The education I received in the program was very different from the problem-solving I did working directly in a facility. Being able to receive hands-on support from other managers was extremely helpful.”
After completing the program and serving as an Account Manager, Aimee progressed to a Training Center Account Manager to develop the skills needed to be a District Manager. During this time, her leadership philosophy bloomed as she supported multiple facilities and managers across her region. Aimee believes, “Management and leadership styles range for each team member. There is no one way or teaching that fits all. Some team members need hands-on support and demonstrations with a gentle approach, while others work better with a more direct approach. It’s crucial to adapt and support whatever each individual needs.”

She shared, “With my background, I want to make a difference in the lives of our frontline staff and how we engage throughout our organization. Steering new engagement ideas and policies in the right direction has been extremely rewarding so far.”
Aimee is excited about her future in employee engagement and remains driven by the belief that making a difference, no matter how big or small, isn’t just part of the job in long-term care; it’s the heart of it.
