Fostering Relationships in Healthcare
When Sonia Rosales joined Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) as a Manager-in-Training (MIT), she knew she wanted to make a difference in all aspects of her role. With the advantage of HCSG’s Manager Development Programs, Sonia encountered an interactive training experience, combining both hands-on and computer-based training to establish the foundation for unlimited career advancement.
Sonia spent three years at Woodland Career Center as an Account Manager, expanding her experience and responsibilities and soaking up the knowledge from HCSG leaders. When the opportunity to become a District Manager came up, Sonia jumped at the chance of having a position that focused on fostering relationships with both clients and residents.
In her tenure as a District Manager, Sonia is highly hands-on and makes every effort to ensure clients and residents are cared for. Understanding that problems can arise from time to time, Sonia has developed a clear process for immediate communication and remediation by meeting with the client or resident, listening to their concerns, and providing options for changes and solutions.
Sonia explained, “When I meet with a new client, I let them know that with HCSG, they do not have to worry about staffing for environmental or dining services. We will ensure that our team members are adequately trained and up to date with environmental and dining procedures.”

Regarding residents, Sonia believes that making sure their voice is heard is of the utmost importance. She explained, “I think it’s important to connect with residents because then they can trust us.”
Since 2017, Sonya has made incredible strides in leading her team by example. She knows how to communicate with her team in a way that teaches them how to serve others in a caring way. Whether it’s greeting residents and visitors, communicating with clients, or problem-solving with team members, it’s clear that her leadership, style, and charisma have made a significant impact in and out of the healthcare community.
