Volunteering to Help Fellow Veterans

Being a leader at Healthcare Services Group (HCSG) goes beyond a title. It’s someone who exemplifies our purpose, vision, and values, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to uphold the HCSG standard. Late this summer, two managers in Texas did just that.

When HCSG launched a new partnership with William R. Courtney State Veterans Home in Tempe, Texas, veterans Salvador (Sal) Gonzalez and Christopher Hood immediately volunteered to help get the environmental services department up and ready to provide the best atmosphere for their fellow veterans. Volunteering their time, knowledge, and work ethic, Sal and Chris spent a week training and transitioning new staff members, coaching, and completing all of the necessary projects required to get the department started on the right foot.

Their hard work and service caught the attention of HCSG Director of Operations, Joseph Yannetti. “They both wanted to give back immediately,” Joseph said, adding, “I want to thank them for their service and paying it forward to make sure the veterans at this facility are taken care of.”

This isn’t Sal’s first time going above and beyond, either. Last spring, he worked with his team to find a creative solution to a bus schedule change that left two employees walking half a mile to work. Read their story here.
